| In 2023, Hays Central Appraisal District (CAD) saw a significant increase in property tax savings compared to the previous year. A large number of property owners filed protests over taxable values, with most informal protests being successful. The Appraisal Review Board (ARB) also had a high success rate for protests. Homeowners benefitted from tax savings through both informal and ARB protests, with commercial protests increasing sharply in 2023.
