ISI Mark Mandatory: Furniture products like work chairs, tables, desks, storage units, beds, and more must bear the ISI mark from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Compliance with  ISI mark Ensure your products meet the required IS standards For example

• Work chairs (IS 17631:2022)


• General purpose chairs and stools (IS 17632:2022)


• Tables and desks (IS 17633:2022)


• Storage units ( IS 17634:2022) Beds (IS 17635:2022)


• Bunk Beds (IS 17636:2022)

 Exemptions:

• Products manufactured for export are exempt.


• Micro & small enterprises have 18 months to comply from the notification date.


• Udyam Portal Exemption: Domestic manufacturers with investments under ₹25 lakh and turnover under ₹2 crore are exempt.

Strict Enforcement: BIS will certify and enforce compliance. Non-compliance could lead to penalties under the BIS Act, of 2016.

• Don't buy or sell outside of your country. Don't accept cashier cheques from outside your country
