If you need a change of name on your airline ticket, you should inform the airline in advance. The great majority of major airlines can adjust a small problem like a misspelling, but a change of name will be a problem. Some airlines will cost you money, and they will request documentation, e.g., a passport or change of name paper. Call airline policy to ask if they will charge a fee or have a restriction.
